The Georgetown Canal boat has returned and was spotted in the canal over the weekend. The newly renovated boat will offer rides on the canal locks via the traditional method of mules. The boat has two electric motors, for when the mules are on break. The National Park Service hopes to open it to visitors in 2022.
According to the Washingtonian, a Free Britney rally is scheduled for Wednesday, July 14, at 2 PM at the Lincoln Memorial. It’s organized by a new local group named Free Britney America, that intends to pressure Congress to reform conservatorship.
Nationals’ Juan Soto broke the Home Run Derby-record of a 520-foot home run at Coors Field but fell in the semi final to the eventual winner of the derby Mets’ Pete Alonso.
Alonso beat Orioles’ Trey Mancini 23-22, winning the Derby for the second time in a row. In other Nats’ news, they signed former manager Dusty Baker’s son, Darren Baker in yesterday’s draft.
Washington Football Team has shared via their website that the name Warriors is not under consideration for the rebrand. A new name is expected soon.
Brood X makes its final appearance for now. The baby cicadas known as nymphs will begin to soon hatch and fall from the trees all around the DC area.
