Supporting Afghan Refugees, Gondola Coming to Georgetown, 9:30 Club Re-Opens, Fireworks at Nats Park
You can help Afghan refugees that are coming to the DC area. Several organizations are helping them get settled with some basic needs for food, hygienic items, and housewares. Lutheran Social Services has a dynamic website where you can volunteer for services and goods.
“Lutheran Social Services is mobilizing its community supporters to be a part of this historic welcome of Afghan Allies! Within a two-month period, LSSNCA is expecting to resettle potentially 800 individuals. As a comparison, LSSNCA welcomed 500 individuals in total last year. We need your time, talents, and gifts to help provide transportation, housing, and other basic needs to our new neighbors.”
Music is returning to the 9:30 Stage this weekend. Local 90’s band White Ford Bronco kicks off the weekend. There is a mystery performance scheduled for September 9, according to their Instagram many speculate that Springfield, VA native Dave Grohl will perform with his band the Foo Fighters.

Dreams of a Gondola coming to Georgetown have sparked up rumors again, DC has purchased a closed gas station at the foot of the Key Bridge that could be an excellent location for a terminal for a gondola that takes passengers between Rosslyn and Georgetown, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Fireworks are (re) scheduled at Nats Park after the game on September 4, 17 and for the home closing weekend against the Red Sox on October 1.
